神的儿女

“凡接待他的,就是信他名的人,他就赐他们权柄,作神的儿女。这等人不是从血气生的,不是从情欲生的,也不是从人意生的,乃是从神生的。”——约翰福音:一12~13

妹妹 first crawl

妹妹 have been rolling and turning on the floor for quite some time, but she have not been very enthusiastic moving forward, prefering to move sideways by making multiple body rolls. Today, motivated by the toys lying around the living room, she manage to cover a good 5 meters down from the platform, hurray!

No more P Plate

I have passed my 2 weeks probation period, and I have passed with flying colours, can remove my P Plate (cushion) liao. Now I can move freely from the living room and bed rooms, but occasionally I will get stuck in the jam from the foyer to the kitchen.

USA Day 10: Home Sweet Home

Our trip will be coming to an end today. We will be taking a city tour around Los Angeles before catching a direct flight back home.

First stop, the walk of fame. These sidewalk "stars" honor not only movie actors, but radio, TV, & stage performers, directors, singers, songwriters, and other well-known show-biz personalities. Well, most days you are unlikely to see any real movie stars along the boulevard, but we were lucky enough to catch Michel Pfiffer there, but it was to crowded to get anywhere near her.

Next stop, we went to Rodeo Drive, famous for all the branded boutiques. We made one last last minute shopping at the coach boutique before heading to the famous Farmer's market for lunch. The last stop of our City tour bring us to the Venice beach. Our camera run out of batteries and we were not able to take any pictures.

Time to go home.... wooohooo!

USA Day 9: Universal Studios

We booked a day trip and arrived at the Universal Studios. We were greeted by many of the movie icons and took lotsa photos. Shrek, Scooby, Sponge Bob, Woody Woodpecker and Zorro. Zo... what?! Matty have never heard of this "hero" before, you guys old enough to know him?

The studio tour was very informative and we got a behind the scene look at how our fav movies were made. The water world show was very exciting, and we were sited in the "splash zone". Luckily we brought some towels along and manage to get shielded. We avoided the more challenging rides like Jurassic Park, but still manage to get lots of excitement at the "Back to the Future" and Terminator rides.

USA Day 8: Lombard Street

The trip to SF is never complete without experiencing the cable car. Well, it's good for an experience, but nothing more than that. It is over crowded, slow and expensive! Yes, $5 per single trip ride, but we have our 3 day muni pass that covers unlimited cable rides. It was so crowded that it is almost impossible to hop on board from our hotel station. We gotta take a ride down to the terminal, and get back up from there.

Nonetheless, after all the hustle. The cable rumbles us to the famous Lombard street - America's crookedest street. The steep, hilly street was created with sharp curves to switchback down the one-way hill past beautiful Victorian mansions.

We were thinking about doing a last minute shopping at Chinatown along Grant Street before we fly off to LA tonight. But we have a nice surprise on our way there, we saw a real crowded street and quickly alighted the bus. This is Stockton Street. I will say this is the real Chinatown! What we were presented at Grant Street were souvenir shops, catered for the tourist. Over here, you can find the real local people, doing their weekend grocery shopping. There is even Lion Dances, not sure what was the occasion though.

We manage to those American Ginseng stuff and a very competitive price. Ginseng sweets, tea, powder etc.... Strawberries is so fresh and cheap! Huge boxes at a third of the price you paid in Singapore.

Its time to say goodbye to SF, and we took a cab to the airport at 6pm in the evening to catch our flight to LA. This is where the biggest surprise unfold.... Papa made a wrong booking for the air tickets. The flight was 750am!!! Luckily for us, there is a flight to LA that night at 850pm, and the kind customer service staff from Alaska manage to get us 3 tickets for no extra charge.

USA Day 7: Golden Gate Bridge

From LV to SF, from the landscape to the weather, everything was a 180 degree change. The weather here is a cooling 15 degree Celsius, slightly windy. We bought a 3 day Muni pass head for the Golden Gate Bridge. This time, its the real thing, not the "choing" ones in LV.

The Golden Gate Bridge is acclaimed as one of the world's most beautiful bridges and with its tremendous towers, sweeping main cables and great span, it is a sensory beauty featuring color, sound, and light. The Bridge has two main cables which pass over the tops of the two main towers and are secured at either end in giant anchorages. Each cable is 0.92 meters in diameter, and made up of 27,572 0.192 inch galvanized wires.

The fisherman's wharf is just a short bus ride away, and we had our lunch of fried calamari and lobster soup among the sea gulls and sea lions. We ended our day shopping for souvenirs in Chinatown. Yes... your t-shirts and fridge magnets!

USA Day 6: Good Bye Las Vegas

Papa's conference will be ending today and we will be flying off to San Francisco in the evening. After some last minute shopping at the outlet center, we visited M&M's world. Yummy.... lots and lots of chocolates!

It was quite an affair checking in at the airport. First, 2 of our 3 luggages were overweight. We manage to clear some of the items and hand carry them. After that, we spend a good 30 minutes at the screening area, as they are on high terrorist alert. Each and every item were scanned and tested for explosives. We were stopped for carrying liquids, lotsa of it! All the Victoria Secrets hand cream, shampoo etc we bought from LV. Papa have to make a U turn and re check in the liquid staff in our backpack.

That's not the end. Remember the flight delay on day 1 due to a missing crew? This time, the co-pilot went missing!!!

USA Day 5: 4 Attractions and A Wedding

Mummy brought Matty to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. The Shark Reef is home to more than 1,200 different species of sharks, tropical and fresh water fish, reptiles, marine invertebrates and rays.

After this, we went to Luxor and see the great Pyramids. The Statue of Liberty of another block away, 2 great man made marvels in 1 day.

From the Excalibur, we took the deuce down to the Stratosphere, the tallest land mark in Las Vegas. Over there, Mummy and Papa got married... again....

USA Day 4: More Shopping

Today, Mummy explored further to the factory outlet in outskirt las vegas. It was a fruitful day and we manage fill up our luggages with coach bags. In the evening, we meet up with papa again in Caesar Palace. After dinner, we took a stroll down to the Venetian to have a feel of Venice. America, France and Italy in 3 days, you can only experience this in Las Vegas!

We went to the mirage for the Volcano experience. The earth shakes while flames shoot into the night sky. Smoke and fire spray 100 feet above the waters below, transforming a tranquil waterfall into spectacular streams of molten lava. Sounds a bit overboard, but that's what they say on their website.... haha....

USA Day 3: Shopping Time

Papa starts his conference today, so Matty and Mummy spend the day shopping at Ceasar Palace. The weather outside was scorching 40 deg Celsius! In the evening, we meet up with Papa and have a stroll to Paris and the Bellagio.

The Eiffle tower looks great, but we are not sure how it compares as we have not seen the actual one. As for the Bellagio Fountains, quite interesting but not very different from what we have in sentosa.

USA Day 2: Grand Canyon

After our less then 4 hours sleep, we woke up at 530am and got ready for our long journey to one of the world's greatest natural wonder. The shuttle pick us up at 615am, and we were transfered to our coach. We stop by at the hoover dam for a short photo shoot, before arriving at the grand canyon national park 4 hours later.

When we finally arrive, it was well worth the journey. The canyon was majestic, the photos might not have done justice, as the weather was quite bad. We make several hops in the national park, and took quite a few pictures.

The journey back was as challenging, and we are really very tired. The traffic in Las Vegas, and laid back nature of the americans make sure that we finally reach our hotel at 11pm.... what a day!

USA Day 1: Viva Las Vegas

We took a 16 hours direct flight to Los Angeles, and after some delay due to a missing crew for the domestic flight, we arrive in Las Vegas at 11pm. There are some problems with the conveyor belt and it's 12pm before we finally got hold of the luggage.

There was a long queue for Taxis, and we took and shuttle instead. And it was a mistake. The shuttle took several stops dispatching other customers before finall sending us to the Orleans Hotel at 1am.

We were treated with more waits (seems like a way of life in USA!) as the hotel staff took 30 minutes to check in 3 or 4 customers? Nonetheless, we finall got to our rooms and settle down at 2pm.... we have 4 hours of rest before we get pciked up for our grand canyon trip....zzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZ

Matty's Birthday

We celebrated Matty's birthday at the SAF Yatch Club in Sembawang. This place is quite ulu, you should not be able to find it without some directions. Somehow, manage to get Desmond and his girls there in time for a late dinner. The restaurant here servers some nice chinese seafood and western food also, highly recommended is the grill stingray, spicy!

As with all yatch clubs, there have fruit machines here. But the main attraction is the 20 cents arcades, reminds me of the army camps. The children have a great time with the free flow of coins while the adults enjoy the breeze.

St Gabriel's Open House

It's P1 enrollment time again, and like most schools, it's marketing time...

Papa and Matty signed up and win the Father and Son soccer competitions! 3 pair of Father/Son form a team, the difficult part is that only the Kids are allowed to score.... Thanks for Didi's support, we manage to raise our game and overrun our opponents.

The competition at the Golf competition were much tougher. Uncle Raymond and Zenas 哥哥 paired up for the game, they have a great time, but honestly, we feel that some of the kids are quite serious on turing pro....

B.B.Q Time

It's 爸爸阿公 birthday, and 阿伯booked a bbq pit at paris park. It was a good 10 minutes walk from carpark A, but it was all worthwhile. The pit is very clean and new, with a big tree right beside it providing some shade.

There are lotsa activities, matty and derick were busy with their sandcastles at the beach, 爸爸阿嬷 takes a nap on the hammock, 阿伯 gets his weekly haircut, and didi having fun with papa on his skate scooter.

It's cake cutting time! Wow.... 阿公 sure have lotsa candles on his cakes.... let us help him to blow them.

Ant Bully

No, Didi was not beaten up by the neighbourhood bully. He was attacked by a mysterious insect yesterday, we din not manage to find the culprit as it has escaped from the scene when we rushed over. Didi's eyes could hardly open now, he is in a very bad shape indeed. He is on medication and doctor has advice to monitor him closely as the swell is near his eyes.

The Pacifier Terminator

三姨: Did anyone see Clariss' "tutu"?
阿嬷: Hmmm.... Dylan look suspicious, he has been wandering near the window just now
Didi: Th(r)ow..........

Meet the pacifier terminator.... seeking and destroying all tutus in sight.... ruthlessly thrown out of the window....

妈咪: Didi....where is you tutu?
Didi: Th(r)ow......
妈咪: Good! Then no more tutu for you.

The terminator strikes again.... but this time he scores an own goal! While you are reading this, Didi has decided to be responsible for his own actions, and quit the pacifier..... hurray!!!

Let's Go Fishing

It's Good Friday, nothing to do at home. Matty packed our nets, and we head for bishan park. We fondly remembered catching some tiger barbs here couple of years ago, with the lure of some bread.

However, this time round we are really disappointed. The pond is almost dead, no much sign of life in it. We tried our luck with our leftover gardenia bread for 30 minutes, nothing appeared.

But all is not lost. We manage to catch a glimpse of some interesting creatures in the park. First, it was a squirrel, then a cameleon, and finally a monitor lizard on our way to lower pierce reservior.

We have better luck over there, we caught 6 tiny fishes along the granite barrier at lower pierce. We brought the fishes to Matty's school the next day and released them into the pond. This way, Matty can visit them during recess time in school.

Chloe's Full Month

Time flies, it's Chloe's full month celebration today. Relatives and friends were invited to 妈咪阿嬷 house for a buffet lunch. Clarisse 姐姐 was here too.... the food must be yummy!

Full month "cake" were tarlets and french pastries from Jack's place. Pretty and nice, but could do better with the freshness of the cream puff.

Happy Birthday Auntie Dulce

Today is Auntie Dulce's birthday, we bought a chocolate fudge cake for her. It's from the cake shop outside Bukit Merah NTUC near papa's office, very rich taste, highly recommended.

Matty had a great time setting up the cake, and even "helped" to blow the candles....makes you wonder who's birthday it is.....
